1Membrane Separation Technology Description
Membrane separation technology refers to the selective separation of a mixture of molecules with different particle sizes at the molecular level through a semi permeable membrane, also known as a separation membrane or filter membrane. The membrane wall is filled with small pores, which can be divided into microfiltration membrane (MF), ultrafiltration membrane (UF), nanofiltration membrane (NF), reverse osmosis membrane (RO), etc. according to the pore size. Cross flow filtration is used for membrane separation. Membrane separation technology, due to its characteristics of operating at room temperature, no phase change, high efficiency and energy saving, and no pollution during production, has been widely used in drinking water purification, industrial water treatment, food and beverage water purification, sterilization, biologically active substance recovery, refining, and other fields. 2、 Membrane separation process
Membrane is the core component of every membrane process, which can be seen as a selective barrier between two phases or as the interface between two phases. A certain component in the raw material mixture can pass through the membrane faster than other components and be transferred to the downstream side, thereby achieving separation.
3、 Membrane module type
There are various forms of membrane module design, all of which are based on the two membrane configurations: (1) flat plate configuration; (2) Tubular configuration. Both plate frame and roll membrane modules use flat membranes, while tubular, capillary, and hollow fiber membrane modules use tubular membranes.
The raw materials enter the membrane module at a certain composition and flow rate. As one of the components is more likely to pass through the membrane, the composition and flow rate of the raw materials inside the membrane module change with position.
